TOKYO — A 12-foot-wide metal chandelier crashed to the dance floor at a discotheque Tuesday night, killing three people and injuring 11 others, police said.
A night duty officer at metropolitan police headquarters said that about 100 people, most of them in their 20s, were dancing at the Turia Disco when the chandelier fell 30 feet to the floor. He said the chandelier is 5 feet high and weighs nearly 2 tons.
The policeman said two women and a man in their 20s were pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
