Sikh Extremists Kill 11 in Punjab

CHANDIGARH, India — Sikh extremists armed with submachine guns massacred a suspected police informer and seven members of his family today and in a separate attack killed a police officer and his wife, police said.
More than 80 people have died since New Year’s Eve in Sikh extremist violence in Punjab. Last year, extremist-related bloodshed in the predominantly Hindu nation claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people.
