South Coast League Roundup : El Toro Wins Game at the Line

Khari Johnson scored 22 points to lead El Toro High School to a 76-65 South Coast League boys’ basketball victory over Mission Viejo Friday night at Mission Viejo.
The Diablos (8-8, 1-1) trailed, 60-46, after three quarters, but cut the deficit to three points with four minutes remaining on a three-point field goal by Tom Tkach.
However, the Chargers made 9 of 12 free throws down the stretch to pull away.
Eric Speaker scored 19 points and Corey Wayland 17 for El Toro (12-4, 1-1).
Jeff Sprinfield had 24 points, Vince Merk 11 and Jacob Forbes 10 for Mission Viejo.
In other South Coast League games:
Irvine 68, San Clemente 17--Bryan Allred scored 18 points to lead the Vaqueros (8-9, 1-1).
Irvine, which led, 34-13, at halftime, held the Tritons (2-10, 0-2) to four points in the second half.
Dave Ballantyne had 12 points, Jerry Petersen 11 and Rapheal Molle 10. Mike Peters scored eight points for San Clemente.
Capistrano Valley 56, Dana Hills 36--The Cougars (14-4, 2-0), ranked No. 1 in Orange County, outscored the Dolphins, 15-7, in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Charles Lockard scored 15 points and Todd Marinovich 14 for Capistrano Valley.
Donny MacIntyre had 11 points to lead Dana Hills (8-8, 1-1).
