Prep Soccer Roundup : Woo Has Three Goals in La Quinta’s 4-2 Win

Chuck Woo scored three goals to lead La Quinta High School to a 4-2 victory over Garden Grove in a Garden Grove League boys’ soccer match Friday at La Quinta.
Chris Moeller scored the other goal for La Quinta (6-4-2, 3-1-1).
Todd Pierson scored both goals for Garden Grove (2-4-2, 1-2-2).
In other Garden Grove League matches:
Kennedy 2, Pacifica 0--The Fighting Irish, led by goalie Jack McConnell, posted their fourth shutout in league play.
Fal Rios and captain Mike Lalibarte each scored goals in the first half for Kennedy (8-8-2, 5-0), which has allowed only one goal in its last five games.
Bolsa Grande 2, Rancho Alamitos 1--Jason Miller and Randy Reynaga scored goals to lead the host Matadors (4-4-2, 2-1-2).
Romero Valaques scored for the Vaqueros, who are 1-3-1 in league.
Goalie Nacho Yogues had 11 saves for Bolsa Grande. Young Park made nine saves for Rancho Alamitos.
In the Century League:
Villa Park 1, Santa Ana Valley 0--Jeremy Amen scored on a penalty kick with less than a minute remaining for the host Spartans.
Villa Park is 2-0 in league and Santa Ana Valley is 1-1.
Foothill 1, Santa Ana 0--Mike Hernandez scored off a pass from Paul Thornton in the last five minutes for the Knights (5-3-1, 1-1) at Santa Ana.
In the Empire League:
Esperanza 2, Katella 2--Host Katella led at halftime, 2-0, as Al Flores scored on a direct kick at the 15:30 mark and Ricardo Munoz on an 18-footer off a pass from Rich Henry at 23:30.
But 18 minutes into the second half, Knight goalkeeper Scott Bogardus slipped when he tried to kick the ball out. The ball hit an Esperanza player and bounced into the goal.
The Aztecs tied the score three minutes later when Kevin Leon connected on a penalty kick.
Borardus had two saves for Katella (8-1-5, 1-0-2) and goalie Derek Sabori a pair for Esperanza (6-5-3, 1-1-1).
El Dorado 2, Los Alamitos 1--Aaro Behle and Matt Hill each scored first-half goals and goalie Ed Scott made 10 saves as the host Hawks (8-3-1, 3-0) held off the Griffins.
Mauricio Ingrassia scored for Los Alamitos, which is 0-2-1 in league.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 0, Estancia 0--Ken Wilcut had six saves for Newport Harbor (8-3-2, 1-0-1), the top-ranked team in the Southern Section 2-A division. Pewee Hernandez had three saves for Estancia (10-4-2, 1-0-1), ranked third in the Southern Section 2-A division.
Saddleback 1, Corona del Mar 1--Tech Dazy scored for Saddleback and Will Hill scored for host Corona del Mar.
Miguel Ochoa had four saves for Saddleback (10-5-2, 1-0-1) and Brent Krum had eight saves for Corona del Mar.
Tustin 3, University 0--Jason Miller scored two goals and Kevin Villar one to lead the Tillers (5-4-3, 1-1) at University.
Goalie Mike Snaadt made three saves for Tustin. Hans Lin had 10 saves for the Trojans, who are 0-2 in league.
In the South Coast League:
Irvine 1, San Clemente 0--Keith Rosenberg scored midway through the first half and goalie Shane Brosnan made eight saves as the host Vaqueros (4-3-2, 1-0-1) held off the Tritons.
Capistrano Valley 1, Dana Hills 0--Steve Delaura scored a goal on an 18-yard shot in the first half for Capistrano Valley at Dana Hills.
Dan Lindblad had five saves for Capistrano Valley, 2-0 in league. Dana Hills is 0-1-1 in league.
In Angelus League girls’ soccer:
Mater Dei 2, Bishop Amat 0--Stephanie Duran and Carla Cichochi each scored for the Monarchs (4-0, 14-4-1) at Bishop Amat.
Goalie Michelle Lodyga made one save for Mater Dei.
In Orange League girls’ soccer:
Brea-Olinda 1, Valencia 1--The Wildcats’ Sandy Tennison scored on a penalty kick 30 minutes into the second half to tie the score.
Brea-Olinda is 4-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in league. Valencia is 0-0-1 in league.
