Raiders’ Davis Is Among 15 Nominated for Professional Football Hall of Fame

Raider owner Al Davis was nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week along with two of his former players, wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff and tackle Art Shell.
George Allen, who coached the Rams and Redskins for 12 years, was also among the 15 nominated, along with former Ram guard Tom Mack.
Hall of Fame officials in Canton, Ohio, said Friday that the nominees were the survivors of more than 100 candidates. In final balloting by a panel of sportswriters Jan. 30, a maximum of seven will be voted into the hall.
Others nominated: linemen Alan Page, Buck Buchanan and Lou Rymkus; linebackers Jack Ham and Lee Roy Jordan; coach Bud Grant; wide receiver Lynn Swann; quarterback Bob Griese; running back Leroy Kelly, and tight end Mike Ditka, now coach of the Chicago Bears.
