Judy’s Loss Increases Sharply in 4th Quarter

Judy’s Inc. said its losses for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 31, soared by nearly 1,000% to $771,000, compared to a loss of $74,000 in the same period a year earlier. Revenue was down 5% to $17.3 million compared to $18.2 million the year before.
The Van Nuys-based specialty apparel chain attributed its poor performance to declining sales and expenses incurred in opening new stores.
For the fiscal year ended Jan 31, 1988, the company’s profit fell 98% to $7,000 compared to $426,000, or 9 cents a share, in fiscal 1987. Revenue for the year was down 2% to $57 million from $59 million the year before.
