Occidental Soccer Coach Steps Down

Brian Williams, coach of the Occidental College men’s soccer team for the past two seasons, has resigned his job to accept a position as coach at Westridge School, an all-girls institution in Pasadena.
Williams, 24, was recently the target of complaints by Occidental players about his lack of experience and on-field behavior. However, Lynn Pacala, the school’s athletics director, said that Williams’ move was inspired by a more lucrative offer rather than player dissension.
Williams was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
Williams last season coached Occidental to a 7-11-1 record, including a 5-6-1 mark in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Occidental will begin a search for a new coach and an assistant Monday. Pacala said she hopes to fill the positions within the next month.
