‘King of the Mountain’ Scheme
As a resident of Glendale I would like to thank you for the informative articles making public the remarkable series of events surrounding the Gregg “Development” Company’s continuing efforts to exploit the Verdugo Mountains vis-a-vis the ill-conceived Oakmont projects. The machinations of Glendale city officials, council, and commission members who have supported and continue to support this plundering of our once picturesque mountains will not go unnoticed. Their behind-the-scenes involvement (“negotiations”) with John Gregg and Salvatore Gangi’s “king of the mountain” scheme raises numerous ethical questions. The astounding amounts of money, the avoidance of established civic procedures, public hearings and environmental impact studies is an embarrassment to many Glendale citizens who expect better of their elected officials and city government. My acquaintances and I will look forward to your further reports on this affair. Many questions need answering.
