Dan Majerle and David Robinson led the U.S. Select team, a group of Olympic basketball hopefuls, to an 84-68 victory over the Netherlands as the four-nation Pohjola Cup tournament began at the Kotka Sports Arena in Finland.
Majerle, a 6-foot 5-inch forward from Central Michigan, led all scorers with 16 points.
Robinson, a 7-foot former Navy center who was college basketball’s 1987 player of the year, scored 11 points, including 6 straight points within 2 minutes late in the second half to halt a Dutch comeback.
