Redondo Beach Woman Wins Fencing Title

CHICAGO — Xandy Brown won the U.S. Fencing Assn.’s women’s epee championship at Northeastern Illinois University Friday with an 8-5 victory over Laura Maskell.
Brown, 29, of Redondo Beach, finished 25th in the women’s epee event at the 1986 championships, and placed third at last year’s nationals.
