Lopez’s 12 Blocks Lead Mid-Valley

Center Alex Lopez blocked 12 shots and grabbed seven rebounds in the second half as ARC Mid-Valley defeated Jefferson City, Mo., 70-51, Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics 12-and-under national basketball tournament in Seattle.
“He really took charge,” Mid-Valley Coach Rich Goldberg said of the 6-6 Lopez. Mid-Valley led at halftime, 40-30.
Cameron Murray scored 19 points for Mid-Valley, which plays No. 1-seeded Indiana in a semifinal today.
