REDDING, Calif. — Seven stolen paintings worth an estimated $400,000 were recovered by federal and local authorities during a search of a home in rural northeastern Shasta County, the Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
The paintings, produced between 1870 and 1910, were seized after authorities received a tip from the San Francisco Police Department. The works had been stolen recently from the offices of Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts and Co., an investment banking company, authorities said.
A half-ounce of methamphetamine also was recovered at the residence, the home of a man identified as Dennis Leap by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department. Leap was in the County Jail on an unrelated charge at the time of the search.
No charges have been filed in the recovery of the paintings, and no one has been arrested.
