Fluor Daniel, a unit of Irvine-based Fluor Corp., has been awarded a contract to expand Kemira’s titanium dioxide facility in Savannah, Ga. The expansion will increase production capacity of the facility, which produces a compound used to whiten materials such as paint, plastics and paper by 60%. Separately, a joint venture of Fluor Daniel and Southern Electric International was awarded a contract by Dexter Corp. to provide engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance services for a gas- and oil-fired combined-cycle cogeneration plant in Connecticut. Terms of the two contracts were not disclosed.
