County Team Ousted in Connie Mack Series

FARMINGTON, N.M. — Rob Yelton singled to drive in the winning run Tuesday and give Cincinnati a 3-2 victory over the Orange County Cardinals in the Connie Mack World Series baseball quarterfinals. The loss eliminated the Cardinals, who lost, 6-3, to Dallas Monday night.
Jason Pfaff allowed six hits, walked one and struck out two for the Midland Redskins, representing Cincinnati.
Orange County catcher Jerry Arneson, a graduate of La Quinta High School, had tied the score, 2-2, in the fifth inning with a solo home run.
The victory sends Cincinnati into the semifinal round today.
