Proceeds will help repay a $900-million promissory note payable to Federated Department Stores and the accrued interest . . . Jepson Burns Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., said USAir has placed a $9-million order for airline seats, the largest order in its history . . . Montgomery, Ala.-based Blount Inc. announced an agreement to sell its Washington Steel subsidiary to Mercury Stainless Corp. for $290 million . . . Pratt & Whitney said it will cut 599 jobs at its Florida operations--some 9% of the salaried work force--as the firm strives to regain competitiveness . . .
