Triptych, With Gary Stevens Aboard, Favored to Win Arlington Million

TORONTO — Fourteen horses--seven from the United States, five from Europe and two from Canada--will be racing for a winner’s purse of $600,000 in the Arlington Million today at Woodbine Racetrack.
The race was moved to Woodbine for one year while Arlington Park, on the outskirts of Chicago, undergoes major repair from a 1985 fire.
Triptych, a 6-year-old French mare, is the 7-2 early favorite.
Owned by American Peter Brant, Triptych is a multiple European champion and the winner of a record nine Grade I races with earnings of $2.4 million. She will be ridden by Gary Stevens, North America’s leading money rider with more than $8.4 million in purses this year.
Most Welcome, a 4-year-old English colt with Bill Shoemaker aboard, is the second favorite at 9-2 while Sunshine Forever, a 3-year-old colt who has won five of eight turf races, is the third favorite at 5-1 and leaves from the No. 8 post with jockey Jorge Velasquez.
