Family Savings & Loan Assn. has appointed director William E. Shearer as chairman. The position has been open since May, when Oliver A. Trigg Jr. resigned as both chairman and chief executive of Family Savings, which is based in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles.
Shearer, president and chief executive of East West Broadcasting, owns and serves as general manager of Los Angeles radio station KGFJ-AM.
When Trigg left under pressure from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco after a regulatory investigation of questionable loan practices, he was replaced as chief executive by Family Savings’ veteran president, Robert E. Bowdoin. Bowdoin will continue as both president and CEO, the board announced.
