A house in the 3000 block of Ibsen Street was substantially damaged by fire Monday morning when a bed that was placed over a floor heater caught fire, the San Diego Fire Department reported.
Flames from the burning bed had spread into the attic by the time firefighters arrived, a department spokesman said.
It took 20 firefighters 30 minutes to extinguish the fire, which caused an estimated $120,000 damage to the house and $60,000 damage to its contents.
The residents of the house were out of town.
