Fashion Island tree arrives for the holidays

Fashion Island's holiday white fir tree is lowered into place by crane at the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale's Courtyard on Wednesday. The tree traveled from Mount Shasta on a 650-mile journey from a designated timber area in Northern California and will be recycled after holiday festivities.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Fashion Island.

The Newport Beach mall continued a longstanding holiday tradition Wednesday with the delivery of a 90-foot-tall white fir tree that was trucked some 650 miles from Mount Shasta to the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard, where it will be decorated to its glittering best.

The tree will be lighted during ceremonies Nov. 22-23. Television personalities Dr. Terry Dubrow (“Botched”) and Heather Dubrow (“The Real Housewives of Orange County”) will host the ceremonies, which also will include a 25-minute performance by the Young Americans and a visit from Santa Claus.
