Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving on Game 1 vs. Hawks: ‘I’m gonna go’

Kyrie Irving had some good news for Cleveland Cavaliers fans on Monday.
“I’m gonna go,” the three-time All-Star said when asked about his status for the opening game Wednesday of the Eastern Conference finals Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
This postseason Irving has been dealing with tendinitis in his left knee and a sprained right foot. He has yet to miss a playoff game, although he played only 12 minutes in the Cavaliers’ series-clinching win over Chicago on Thursday and sat out practice on Saturday.
But the star point guard said he felt “amazing” after so much rest and took part in all of Monday’s practice, even staying late for a lively shooting contest with teammate LeBron James.
Coach David Blatt said of Irving after practice: “I’m encouraged.”
Irving averaged 21.5 points and 5.1 assists this season for the Cavaliers.
